Manage your payees efficiently in the web version of YNAB. Learn how to create new payees in the account register and edit payee details, including name changes and merging payees.

#### The Manage Payees feature is web only

While you can easily add new payees on the go with our iOS and Android apps, **our Manage Payees feature is only available in the web app.** To edit, combine, and delete payees, click your plan name at the top left of the web app and choose _Manage Payees_ from the drop-down menu.

If you're looking for how to manage [Geo Payees](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/geo-payees-on-mobile-a-guide-SJTbcVks), that can only be done on mobile.

## How to Add Payees

New payees are created directly in the account register when you add a transaction on web or mobile.

1. When adding a transaction, enter the name in the Payee section.

2. When you’re finished adding the transaction details, be sure to select the _Save_ option.

3. That's it! This payee will now appear in the payee list for future transactions.

## How to Edit Payees

You can edit the payee for a **single** transaction directly in the account register. It's **not** possible to bulk edit the payee for multiple transactions in the account register.

Our Manage Payee feature allows you to update **all** transactions that use the same payee. Follow these steps.

1. From the **web app**, click the name of your plan (located at the top of the left sidebar).

2. Select _Manage Payees._

3. Search for the payee and select it, using the checkbox to the left.

4. Edit the payee name at the top of the window.

5. When finished, click _Done_.

To edit Payment and Transfer payees, you'll need to [rename the account name](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/edit-account-details-an-overview-S1qj7MuR5#customize). This edits all Payment and Transfer payees for that account.

## How to Delete Payees

Are you just wanting to change what a payee is automatically **renaming** to? If so, you don't have to fully delete the payee—you can instead change or delete the renaming rule (or turn off renaming for an individual payee altogether). Check out [How to Rename Payees](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/how-to-rename-payees-BkotNUSyo) for all the details!

Follow these steps to delete any unwanted payees.

1. From the **web app**, click the name of your plan (located at the top of the left sidebar).

2. Select _Manage Payees._

3. In the left sidebar of the Manage Payees window, search for and select any payees you would like to delete using the checkboxes to the left.

4. Click the _Delete_ button in the main section of the Manage Payees window.

5. If those payees have transactions associated with them, you’ll notice a **New Payee** section appear and you'll be prompted to select a new payee from a drop down menu. 🚨Warning: If you select _\[no payee\]_ from the drop down menu, the payee field will be blank for any transactions that was using the payee you're deleting.\*

6. Confirm the selection by clicking the _Delete_ button again.

7. Click _Done_ at the bottom of the Manage Payees window.

#### \*Help! I think I deleted transactions and not just the payee!

If you do not select a new payee to give the related transactions, it will turn the payee field blank, but rest assured, the actual transactions remain. This is likely a filter or sort order issue. Transactions can disappear if there is an active [filter or search](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/searching-transactions-a-guide-r1gxyQryj) in the account register.
