How to Export Selected Transactions

  1. In the YNAB web app, click on an account (or All Accounts) in the left sidebar.

  2. Select the transactions you'd like to export from the account register. You do this by clicking the checkbox to the left of each transaction. *Need to search and drill down for a specific category, payee, etc.? No problem. You can do that like this:

    1. In the search field, enter the name of the category, payee, flag color, memo "tag", or other identifier. This will bring up all transactions fitting your search. Check out Searching Transactions: A Guide ↗️ for more on our search logic and tips.

    2. You can also filter those results under View to narrow down to a specific time frame.

    3. Once you have searched and filtered your transactions, to select all applicable transactions at once, click the checkbox on the Table Header (where you notice the column descriptions: Account | Date | Payee). *If you only want a few of the transactions exported, click the checkbox to the left of the individual transactions.

  3. Click More in the Action Bar, then Click Export # Transactions.

  4. Those transactions will export as a CSV (comma-separated value) file or TSV (tab-separated, for currencies that use a comma), which can be opened with most common spreadsheet apps.

  5. The downloaded file name will start with: "Selected Transactions for [plan name]..."
