## Overview

Ever wondered what it actually costs to live your life each month? Now you don’t have to guess. With edit plan, you’ll see exactly what a month of being you costs. YNAB will add up all your targets—and display the total stacked up against your expected income.

This number will be your new best friend, especially if you’re planning a move, considering a career change, adjusting your lifestyle, or just curious about your monthly margin.

### iOS

Edit Plan includes a number of features to assist in planning for the current month while looking ahead to the next month as well.

* At the top of Edit Plan, we've created a space for planning. It calculates and displays the money you need to fully fund the current month based on this month's targets, displayed as _Cost to Be Me_. It also allows you to enter your expected income for the month, providing you an opportunity to immediately check whether the expected income for the month will cover the amount needed.

* While in Edit Plan, you can quickly and flexibly adjust your categories and targets until you're satisfied. They can be added, renamed, reordered, and deleted directly in Edit Plan.

* We also provide a preview of next month's total since the needed amount can vary month to month based on a number of factors (for example, weekly targets). This will be available if the total of next month's targets is higher than the current month's total.

## How Edit Plan is Calculated

When in Edit Plan mode, you're presented with two or three key numbers to assist you as you set or update targets.

*   **This Month's Targets**:

    * This number adds up the total of all targets set this month and tells you how much money you need to fully fund this month's targets. For snoozed targets, the entire amount is still included.

    * This number remains the same whether or not your categories are funded for the month.

*   **Your Expected Income**:

    * You'll enter this number into Edit Plan; include all expected sources of income for the month.

*   **Next Month's Targets**:

    * This number suggests the amount you may need to fully fund next month. It only appears when the amount you need for next month is higher than the amount you need for this month.

    * Weekly and monthly targets are used to calculate this number; the full target amount is used in the calculation.

    * Yearly and custom targets are also used to calculate this number. The amount you've funded these categories is part of the calculation if the dates span more than one month and the due date is not in the current month.

        * As you fund yearly and custom targets, the number will decrease to account for that funding.

        * If you unassign money from yearly and custom targets, the number will increase. This is to let you know you'll need to assign more to those categories in future months to stay on track.
