It provides an opportunity to focus your attention on the spending that's most important to you. You're able to set and view your [priority, pinned categories](#top-priorities), reflect on a [monthly summary](#summary), and [review the money you've assigned to future months](#future). You can also access suggested podcasts, videos, and blog posts. For some this might be a big savings goal, for others an upcoming vacation. It could be used to monitor a frequently overspent category or group your most-used categories for easy access. Choose whatever feels the most spendful for you! The amount of money available in each category is also available for review. Tap on a category in the Pinned section and you'll see a number of options. You can add a transaction, view category activity, review your Money Moves, move money, edit or snooze the target, and view additional category details. ### How to Add Pinned Categories 1. Tap the _Home_ tab. 2. Tap _Add Pinned Categories_. 3. Search for and tap the categories you'd like to pin. 4. Tap the checkmark at the top of the screen. Tap the _Home_ tab. 2. Tap _Add Goal_, available in the Current Goal section. 3. Tap the category that represents your most exciting goal. **Not seeing the category you'd like to set as your current goal?** Targets for your credit card payment categories can’t be set as your current goal. Tap the _Home_ tab. 2. Tap _Add Goal_, available in the Current Goal section. 3. Tap the category that represents your most exciting goal. **Not seeing the category you'd like to set as your current goal?** Only categories with custom targets that don't repeat are available to set as your current goal. [Follow the steps below to set the correct target type](#target-goal-android) for your current goal. Additionally, credit card payment categories aren't available as current goals. ### How to Set a Target for Your Current Goal 1. Tap the _Plan_ tab. 2. Long press the category you'd like to set as your current goal.  3. Tap _Edit Target_. 4. Tap _Custom_. 5. Edit the target details.  6. Check the Repeat option to confirm it's toggled off. 7. Tap _Save Target_.  8. Tap the _Home_ tab. 9. Tap _Add Goal_. If you previously set a Current Goal, tap _Adjust_ or _Set a New Goal_ instead.  10. Tap the category you'd like for your Current Goal. 11. Tap _Save_ at the top of the screen. The following information will give you a clear understanding of where you stand this month. * **Total Targets**: This number includes all targets except for undated custom targets with the "Have a balance of..." option. Tap _Edit_ to go directly to [Edit Plan](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/plan-and-adjust-with-edit-plan-and-cost-to-be-me-ByR7vpqPyx). * **Assigned**: This number includes the total of what you've assigned to categories this month. Tap _Assign_ to add more money to categories in the current month. * **Underfunded**: This number is the sum of targets that **haven't** been fully funded as well as [overspending](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/overspending-in-ynab-a-guide-ryWoxEyi) you need to address in the current month. * **Spent**: This number represents the total of your transactions in the current month. Tap _Reflect_ to go directly to Spending Breakdown, Net Worth, and Age of Money. You'll always see next month. A pie graph shows your ongoing progress toward fully funding next month. A checkmark means you're fully funded for next month. Time to celebrate! Depending on your personal goals, you may want to get additional months ahead. You can! To make that next month appear in the Home tab, take the following steps: 1. Tap _Plan_. 2. Tap the current month at the top of the screen. 3. Tap the month you'd like to begin funding. 4. Assign any amount of money to at least one category. Tap it to: * Refer YNAB and earn a free month. * Gift YNAB and earn three free months. * Hide the amounts in your plan to share YNAB (without oversharing). [Back to Top](#backtotop) * * * ## Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) ### How does YNAB determine when I'm a month ahead? All targets except for undated custom targets with the "Have a balance of..." option are taken into account. For targets with the "Refill up to..." option, leftover funds don't count toward getting a month ahead until that month begins. When the new month starts, you can use Auto-Assign to reduce overfunding and those dollars will return to Ready to Assign. ### What happens when I tap _Underfunded_ in the month's summary? You'll be taken to the [Underfunded Focused View](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/focused-views-a-guide-BksnNYqLh#preset) on the Plan tab. When you're done reviewing your underfunded categories, be sure to tap _View All Categories_ or _View All_ to remove the Focused View.  ### Can I remove the For You section? No, but you can collapse it. Tap the arrow to the left of _For You_ to hide the recommended articles and media. This works for any section on the Home tab.  ### How does YNAB know my name? Depending on when you signed up for YNAB, you may have been prompted to provide us your first name. At times, we use that name to greet you in the Home tab; this can't be turned off.  To add or change your name: 1. Tap the three dots icon at the top of the Home tab. 2. Tap _Settings & Privacy_. 3. Tap _Account Settings_ (you may need to scroll down). 4. Edit your First Name. 5. Tap _Save_. ### Why isn't the entire name of my plan showing at the top? You'll see your plan name at the top of the Home tab; this can't be turned off. Lengthy plan names won't show in their entirety.  To shorten the name of your plan: 1. Tap the three dots icon at the top of the Home tab. 2. Tap _Settings & Privacy_. 3. Tap _Plan Settings_. 4. Edit your plan name. 5. Tap the checkmark at the top of the screen on iOS or _Save on Android_. ### Can I set more than one Current Goal?? No, only one target can be chosen as your Current Goal.
