## Moving Between Months

2. Tap the down arrow by the month and year at the top of the screen to bring up a calendar view.

3. Select the month you'd like to view, or use the left and right arrows (< and >) at the top of the calendar to select the year you'd like.

### Android

2. Tap the _Plan_ tab.

3. Tap the down arrow by the month and year at the top of the screen to bring up a calendar view.

4. Select the month you'd like to view, or use the left and right arrows (< and >) at the top of the calendar to select the year you'd like.

### Web

1. From the **web app**, click on _Plan_ in the left sidebar (located immediately below the name of your plan).

2. At the top of the screen, navigate between months in YNAB by clicking the left or right arrows next to \[**Current Month & Year**\].

3. Clicking the down arrow next to the current month will bring you to a date picker, where you can jump to any point in the past in your plan, or to the furthest month ahead that you've assigned money into.

Click the _down arrow_ to open a date picker. Jump to a month in the past or to the furthest month ahead that has money assigned.

#### Month Notes

Another feature of the plan header **on the web app** is the ability to add a month note for quick reference. Check out [How to Add Notes](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/how-to-add-notes-Byytt_YC9#month) for specific process steps!

## Ready to Assign

Ready to Assign is money in cash-based accounts (like Checking) that is not assigned to spending categories.

Example: If you have $500 in checking, and assigned $400 to spending categories. Ready to Assign will have $100 available.

### How Does This Appear in YNAB?

### iOS

* On the _Home_ tab, Ready to Assign appears as a green banner at the top when funds are available to assign.

* It disappears when all money is assigned to categories and reappears when you add an inflow.

* If you've assigned more than you have, an _Over assigned_ alert will appear instead.

### Android

* On the _Home_ tab, Ready to Assign appears as a green banner at the top when funds are available to assign.

* It disappears when all money is assigned to categories and reappears when you add an inflow.

* If you've assigned more than you have, an _Over assigned_ alert will appear instead.

### Web

* When funds are available, a green banner displaying "Ready to Assign" will appear at the top of the Plan tab. It will include the amount you have to assign and an _Assign Money_ button.

* If every dollar has been assigned to categories, a grey banner displaying "All Money Assigned" will appear at the top of the _Plan_ tab. It will also display $0.00.

* When there are more dollars assigned to spending categories than what is available in your accounts, a red banner displaying "You assigned more than you have" will appear at the top of the _Plan_ tab. It will include the amount of money overassigned as a negative number and a red _Fix This_ button.

## (web app only) Ready to Assign Breakdown

Not sure how you ended up with that amount? Click _Ready to Assign_ (**in the web app only**) for a breakdown.

There are two sections: the top section shows money that has **added** to your Ready to Assign number, and the other shows money that has been **deducted** from Ready to Assign.

### Money That Has Been Added to Ready to Assign

➕ **Ready to Assign Left Over from \[Previous Month\] includes:**

* The sum of money rolled over from last month's Ready to Assign.

* Any future YNABing (any money that entered Ready to Assign last month \[or before!\], and assigned in a future month).

➕ **Inflow: Ready to Assign Transactions in \[Current Month\] includes:**

* New inflow for the month (like income) that were categorized as Inflow: Ready to Assign and are in a cash-based account (checking, savings, etc.).

* [Positive credit card balances](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/credit-cards-with-a-positive-balance-an-overview-By_H6uzJo) caused by cash back rewards this month.

➕ **Inflow from Debt Account includes:**

* Inflows that are transferred from a debt-based account, such as [cash advance](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/credit-card-cash-advances-an-overview-Hy6PmlOC9) transactions or overpayments on a credit card. Only the amount of the positive balance will appear.

### Money That Has Been Deducted from Ready to Assign

➖ **Cash Overspending in \[Previous Month\] includes:**

* Cash overspending that happened last month. Need more? Review [Handling Overspending in YNAB: A Guide](https://support.ynab.com/en_us/overspending-in-ynab-a-guide-ryWoxEyi).

➖ **Assigned in \[Current Month\] includes:**

* Dollars assigned to the spending categories this month.

➖ **Assigned in Future includes:**

Future assigning shows up in **next month's** Ready to Assign Left Over from \[Previous Month\], and on and on the cycle goes...

#### Missing some of these lines?

The Ready to Assign breakdown will only show sections that apply to **your** plan. Don't have any positive credit card balances? The Ready to Assign breakdown won't include those sections.
