# YNAB Widget for Mobile

> With widgets, you can view favorite categories and enter transactions from your phone's home screen. Here's how to enable and use the widget on iOS and Android.

## How to Add the YNAB Widget

### iOS

1.  First, confirm you have iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later installed on your Apple device. 
    
2.  Touch and hold an app, widget, or an empty area until the apps jiggle. 
    
3.  Tap the Edit button in the upper left corner.
    
4.  Tap _Add Widget_.
    
5.  Select a widget (or search for "YNAB").
    
6.  Choose from three widget sizes (small = one category, medium = three categories, large = seven categories)  
    
    1.  On iPhone, you also have the option to choose an _Add Transaction_ widget. 
        
7.  Tap _Add Widget_. 
    
8.  While the apps are still jiggling, move the widget where you want it on the screen.
    
9.  Tap _Done_.

### Android

1.  Confirm you're running Android 7 or newer.
    
2.  From the Home Screen, touch and hold an empty space, or pinch the screen with two fingers. Depending on your device, you may find that only one of these methods works.
    
3.  Tap _Widgets._ 
    
4.  Scroll to "YNAB" and tap the icon.
    
5.  Select the widget size you'd like (small = one category, large - scrollable list with as many categories as you'd like).
    
6.  Touch and hold the YNAB widget size you'd like in order to drag it to your preferred space on the Home Screen. 
    
7.  You'll be prompted to select the categories you want to include, depending on the widget size you selected in step five. If you chose a small widget, you'll be taken back to the Home Screen after you select the category.
    
8.  For a large widget, tap _Save_ after you've selected your categories. 
    

**Add Transaction Pseudo Widget:** If you long press the YNAB app icon on your home screen, you can then long press and drag the _Transaction_ option to your preferred space on the Home Screen. Tap that at any time to quickly add a new transaction.

## How to Customize the YNAB Widget

### iOS

1.  Tap and hold the YNAB widget until the apps jiggle. 
    
2.  Tap _Edit Widget._ 
    
3.  Tap the category you want to **replace.** 
    
4.  Select a new category to replace it with.  
    
5.  Rearrange your categories (if desired) by dragging and dropping them with the hamburger icon (the three horizontal lines to the right of the category name). 
    
6.  Tap outside the widget to return to the original screen.
    

#### Stacks on Stacks on Stacks

The iOS YNAB Widget is also stackable, so you can add it to a Stack with other widgets, or even create multiple YNAB widgets to Stack together (a widget for you, a widget for your partner, everybody gets a widget!). 

### Android

Once the Android widget is active with categories selected, updating it will depend on your specific Android device.

1.  For some newer devices, you can long press the widget for a "Settings" option or something similar. You can then select a new category, or set of categories.
    
2.  If you don't have that option, to make a change, you'll want to delete the widget and re-add it with newly selected categories. 
    

#### Stacks on Stacks on Stacks

The Android YNAB Widget is also stackable, so you can add it to a Stack with other widgets, or even create multiple YNAB widgets to Stack together (a widget for you, a widget for your partner, everybody gets a widget!).

## How to Add Transactions From the Widget

### iOS

1.  Tap the category you'd like to add a transaction in, which will launch YNAB's transaction screen. 
    
2.  Enter all your purchase details with the category pre-filled. 
    
3.  Tapping Save will return you to the YNAB App.
    

**iPhone users:** If you've created an _Add Transaction_ widget on your iPhone you can also tap that to quickly add a transaction.

### Android

1.  Tap the category you'd like to add a transaction in, which will launch YNAB's transaction screen. 
    
2.  Enter all your purchase details with the category pre-filled. 
    
3.  Tapping Save will return you to the YNAB App.
    

### Web
